This late 19th century antique desk is made of oak. It has been painted a few times in its lifetime. The most recent finish is a minty green paint with a dark green glaze over top. I have thoroughly cleaned the desk. I repaired the Knapp joint drawer so that it glides easily again. The drawer has been sealed inside and out with shellac. I reattached the lower shelf. I decided not to remove the paint but rather sand it down to expose more of the layers and bring out the minty green and highlights of white. The entire piece has been sealed with polyurethane.
